Health and Safety Protocols

As always, Roots Aquatics & Fitness Center and Roots Cycle is committed to the cleanliness of our facility and the healthy and safety of our community. Now we’re taking it to an even higher level.   During these past few months of closure, we have taken our time to craft new processes for our staff, riders, and members; as confident as we are in our new protocols, this is just the start. As we listen, learn and watch other states and fellow industry businesses re-open, we will be fine-tuning and updating our operations to implement a standard of safety that will make us all feel comfortable in our facilities.  We understand you have missed our fitness center and studio – trust us, we’ve missed you more than you know. This is an adjustment for all of us and truly believe that with kindness, patience, and excitement, we will be able to welcome you all back. Our front desk teams are excited to assist you with any questions about your memberships or packages during your first visit back.   Below is our current plan as we believe these will be our best operational guidelines to successfully and safely reopen our doors.  

Health & Safety at Roots

PLANTING THE SEEDS FOR HEALTHY (and cleaner) BODIES AND MINDS


We have always been prideful of our cleanliness in all facilities on campus. Now we’re taking it to an even higher standard. Top grade disinfectant and more frequent cleaning will be seen as soon as our doors open. Instructors and staff members are required to wear a mask when walking through the facility, working at our front desk, or personal training; we encourage our members and riders to also wear a mask when entering and leaving our facilities. We are not requiring masks to be worn during any type of workout. Additionally, all staff and members will be required to thoroughly wash their hands according to CDC guidelines immediately upon entering. We will also be implementing that all staff members will have their temperature checked before entering. All hands, literally, will be on deck! We will sanitize all equipment, bikes in the studio, all door handles, bathroom surfaces, benches, cubbies, desks, computers, light switches, and microphones. Any surface that is exposed to customers or staff will be disinfected multiple times daily. Note: We will have a minimum of 15 minutes between each class to allow for sanitization prior to the next group of riders or members entering the studio and group room. All customer service and cleaning staff will be equipped with masks and will be there to assist and monitor our members.




BEFORE YOUR WORKOUT


At Home Self-Check reminders:

  • If you have a cough, fever, or symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come in our facilities until you’re symptom and fever-free for 3 days.

  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or have knowingly come into contact with someone who has, we ask that you do not come to our facilities for 14 days or until you test negative.

  • If you feel unwell or have any concerns about coming back, please stay home and stay safe. We’ll welcome you back when you’re healthy again.




CHECKING IN


Roots Aquatics and Fitness Center:

Upon arrival, please exit your vehicle and enter our facility through the front door. During your first visit, we ask that you stop front desk if you have any questions in regards to your membership and wait in line on the pre-spaced markers. Key tags MUST be scanned at the key fob on the front desk in order to sign into the facility. If you need a new one, the front desk will be happy to get you a replacement one for $3. Towels, Mats, & Such To keep you and fellow members safe, we have decided to remove our mats, blankets, and towels; we have also decided to limit our showers and locker-area of our locker rooms for the time being. Our water-filling stations will only operate from the touchless filler but please try to come to work out with a pre-filled water bottle. Please limit what you bring into our facility; we suggest you come prepared with a fitness mat, keys, cell phone, water bottle, towel and a change of clothes & shoes.

Roots Cycle:

Our mobile app will take care of check-in utilizing your own personal device. These app notifications/features will be triggered when all three of the following criteria are met:

  • Location services enabled on your personal device.

  • Booked class start time is within 30 minutes.

  • Your mobile device is within .10 miles of the studio.

Our staff is here to help, from a safe distance. We will be restricting our staff from leaving the front desk, aside from studio cleaning and necessary rider assistance for weight exchange or bike set-up. Once clipped into your bike, feel free to remove your mask and place in a cup holder. For the safety of our members, riders and staff, there will be no late entry permitted for any classes or rides once it has begun. If you plan to attend class you will be required to book ahead of time so we can adequately plan for each class set up. If you cannot make the class, please cancel your reservation within an hour before class from the Roots Cycle App or call our facility at 413-562-7433.




DURING YOUR WORKOUT


General Guidelines:

  • We are asking that all members enter and exit our facility wearing a mask; upon entering, all members will be asked to wash their hands.
  • Come prepared to get your workout done with an hour time frame to respect others wanting to use the facility as we will be operating at 40% capacity.
  • Bring a change of shoes, your own mat, sweat towel, pool towel, and water bottle.

Guidelines for Classes including Tread n Shred, Large Group Training, Outdoor Classes, Rides at Roots Cycle and Small Group Training:

  • Pre-registration is now required for all classes. (If you still need to download the Apps, please follow the directions at the bottom of this email.)
  • To ensure your personal and fellow members’ safety, your workout station and equipment, if any is needed, will be pre-set up and assigned by the instructor.
  • Please do not wait outside of the Large Group Room for class; arriving 5 minutes ahead of time should give you ample of time to get in class. If the instructor is still in the room setting up or cleaning, please wait outside by Sierra's cafe located on the 2nd floor. The instructor will then allow members to come into class.
  • Upon entering the Large Group Room, please keep your personal items with you at your designated space. If a piece of equipment or weight needs to be changed out, the instructor will be able to help you, limiting the movement within fellow members’ space.
  • At Roots Cycle, the studio door will be open at least 15 minutes before class; feel free to come early to get your shoes, set up your bike, and exchange any hand weights if needed. If hand weights need to be changed out, the instructor will be able to help you, limiting the movement within fellow riders’ space.
  • Once clipped into your bike, feel free to remove your mask and place in a cup holder.
  • Fans will not be turned on at both facilities for the time being -- get ready to sweat!! 😃

Guidelines for Water Aerobics:

  • Pre-registration is now required for all classes. (If you still need to download the Apps, please follow the directions at the bottom of this email.)
  • Please come dressed an ready to go as our changing area and showers will be limited.
  • Bring your personal items with you on the pool deck and place them on the blue bleachers 6 feet apart.
  • To ensure your personal and fellow members’ safety, your workout station and equipment, if any is needed, will be pre-set up and assigned by the instructor.
  • Dry off as best you can before entering the locker rooms; feel free to change in the stall but we encourage you to keep our floors as dry as possible so plan to bring an extra towel.

Guidelines for the Strength Room:

  • Some equipment has been removed to increase the space availability for our members and staff.
  • We ask that 2 people are on the turf area at a time.
  • We ask that you minimize super-setting between multiple pieces of equipment at a time.
  • Please feel free to wipe down your equipment as we have increased our sanitation stations; our Fitness Attendant will be wiping your equipment down after your use as well.

Guidelines for the Lap Pool:

  • You do not need to pre-register for lap swim. We ask that if you come with someone you live with and are comfortable to circle swim, that you choose to do so.
  • You can find the lap pool schedule on our website under the fitness tab.
  • Please come dressed an ready to go for your swim to limit the amount of time in the locker rooms.
  • Bring your personal items with you on the pool deck and place them on the blue bleachers 6 feet apart from other members belongings.
  • If you choose to use a kick board, flippers, or any other equipment, be sure to spray it down with the cleaning spray located on top of the equipment rack.
  • Dry off as best you can before entering the locker rooms; feel free to change in the stall but we encourage you to keep our floors as dry as possible so plan to bring an extra towel.




AFTER YOUR WORKOUT


ROOTS AQUATICS AND FITNESS CENTER:

After all classes or workouts, we ask that our members exit through the main front door. If you have taken a Large Group Training class, there will be no early exit; you will be required to stay through the cool-down. After Class or a Personal Training session, please leave equipment disinfecting to the instructor.

ROOTS CYCLE:

There will be no early exit from class; you will be required to stay through the cool-down. The instructor will call members out by rows beginning Row 4 to Row 1, to wipe down their bikes and exit the studio. Once in the lobby, please drop off your towel and shoes in our labeled bins to return; grab your personal shoes and only stop by the front desk if you have questions about your rides or membership. Trust us, we love when our members hang out in the lobbies and we know the socializing is a huge aspect everyone misses. But to ensure your safety, we ask that you keep your pre and post workout chats to a minimum in our spaces to practice proper social distancing.




PRE-REGISTRAION REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES


Please be advised that this is extremely important to read over as pre-registration is now required for all classes including Large Group Training classes, Outdoor classes, Water Aerobics classes, and Rides at Roots Cycle.

A few gentle reminders:

  • All classes will now be 45 minutes.
  • At this time, we do not encourage back-to-back session reservations.
  • All classes open 7 days in advance. For instance, on June 22 classes will be open to reserve for June 29.

Please follow the directions below on how to sign up for classes from your personal device or desktop computer!

The MINDBODY APP will allow our members to access the following features once your log-in is created:

  • Access to the RAAFC facility schedule
  • Access to class schedules at both RAAFC
  • Online Sign Up for ALL Large Group Classes, including Water Fitness Classes
  • Ability to view schedule changes/ substitute instructors
  • Please do not use MINDBODY to sign up for Rides at Roots Cycle; the Roots Cycle App directions are listed below.

Option 1: Signing up for class through a Desktop Computer

  1. Go To www.mindbodyonline.com
  2. Click, “Login”
  3. Search “Roots Aquatics and Fitness”
  4. “Select”
  5. “Continue to site without logging in”
  6. It will bring you to our Facility Schedule. In the top right corner, enter your email and select “forgot password”.
  7. An email will be sent to you to reset your password and you will then have access to sign up for class.
  8. Now, when you log into MINDBODY, and view our Facility Schedule, you will be able to click on the time slot or class you would like to sign up for. If the class and waitlist are full or if you have not purchased the Small Group/Challenge Group package attached to the class, the button will say “CALL”.

Option 2: Signing up for class through the MINDBODY App

  1. Launch the MINDBODY app and select Or continue with email.
  2. Enter your email address, then tap Next. (Existing users will be asked to log in.)
  3. Enter a password, then tap Next.
  4. Enter your first name, last name, location, and email preference, then tap Create Account.

Now, simply log in to your email account to confirm your address and sync your MINDBODY accounts with the app.

  1. Log into the App and select Explore.
  2. Continue and select Fitness.
  3. Continue and select Group. Roots Aquatics & Fitness will then show up. Select our business to bring up the group schedule.
  4. On the top of the page, click on the <3. Roots will immediately be added to your Favorites tab for the next time you sign in.
  5. When you select Schedule you will see the upcoming classes for the day and week ahead when you will then be able to sign up for class.

The ROOTS CYCLE APP and www.rootscycle.com is exclusively used for any rides at Roots Cycle! Both apps can be downloaded on Android and IOS mobile device. No need to worry about 2 logins or 2 passwords; both systems require only 1 username and password!!
